The crown of the watch falls off, which is a relatively common fault of the watch, because the crown is the most frequently used part in the watch. So what should I do in this situation?
There are two cases: one is that the watch crown falls off, and the other is that the watch crown and the stem (rod) fall off together. The former situation is often because the watch head is unbuckled or broken due to rust and external impact. The latter situation is more complicated, but generally speaking, because the puller tail hook of the watch movement is disengaged or cannot be locked in the groove of the handle.
The reasons for the failure include the wear of the splint, the wear of the puller tail hook, the looseness of the puller screw, the deformation and damage of the handle, etc. The early old watches generally use the puller screw to fix the crown, and the today's watches are basically fixed by means of a pull shaft, so many old-fashioned watches are caused by loose pull screws.
Moreover, the handle of the watch is very easy to rust. After the watch is used for a long time, the waterproof rubber ring in the handle of the watch will age, resulting in poor sealing. A corroded watch stem will become thinner at the root and lose strength.
If the watch handle falls off, you should keep it properly and not lose it, and then send it to the watch repair shop for repair in time. It is best not to insert the handle into the watch by yourself. (If you really want to try to put it back, you should do it slowly. Do not insert and pull out repeatedly, this may cause the lay wheel to disengage from the clutch lever, and it will also increase the wear and tear, adding trouble to future maintenance.
